InstantInit is a very small application designed to initialize disks in the shortest possible time, which ranged from 1 to 3 seconds in tests that we conducted. Your actual preformance time may vary, but it'll be fast! No more waiting forever to initialize your disks -- InstantInit offers virtually "instant" initialization! My favorite use of InstantInit is using it to make any demo disk (especially those online services) into a blank floppy!
GETTING STARTED
================
Double-click on the InstantInit application. You will be asked if you want to register yet. Click on the "Not Yet" button. Now insert a disk you want to initialize, and almost immediately your disk will be ejected. Your disk is now fully initialized. If you wish to continue initializing disks, insert the disk(s) you wish to initialize. Otherwise, click on the "Quit" button to exit the program.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
====================
InstantInit requires a Macintosh Plus or later with a FDHD or SuperDrive. Therefore, it should run on almost any machine under any configuration. If it doesn't, please send bug reports and comments to the address in the program. InstantInit is a fat binary application, which means that it will run normally on a 68k Macintosh, as well as accelerated native on a Power Macintosh!
REGISTERING
===========
If you use this program, you need to pay a small fee of $10 (U.S.) or equivalent (checks in U.S. funds only) to the address on the registration screen. Not only will registering fufill your legal (and moral) obligation, but when you register, you will receive a code that will allow you to eliminate that annoying registration notice, entitle you to free upgrades to all versions 1.x, and use the software for more than 15 days. Registering is REQUIRED BY LAW and gives us the incentives and funds we need to develop new and exiciting shareware products.
HOW IS MY DISK DIFFERENT FROM A DISK INITIALIZED NORMALLY?
The InstantInit initialized disk is practically identical to a disk initialized by the Finder. However, InstantInit does not write to every single byte on the entire disk, as the Finder often does. This dramatically speeds up the initialization. If the disk contains defective sectors it is possible that InstantInit could overlook that fact. However, the Finder's initialization scheme is not failsafe either and could also overlook defective sectors. In today's world, most disks are now guaranteed to be non-defective by the manufacturers, eliminating this problem. Please note that InstantInit DOES verify the bytes that it writes to disk, so even in the unlikely event that a disk was defective, there is a good chance that InstantInit would discover that fact.
CAVEATS
=========
Please note that at this point in time, InstantInit may not work on disks which have never been used. If this is the case, you will get a message saying that an error has occured. However, InstantInit will work on disks that have been previously initialized or written to by any source. So if you buy a pack of disks initialized for DOS (or any other operating system), the program should work just fine. Since most disk manufacturers test their disks in some way, the program should work fine and this shouldn't be a problem. (If it is, maybe you should be buying a better brand of disks.)

Any party distributing The Software for any fee, all inclusive, or along with another product, must have advance written permission from Wolf Technologies, Inc. If you use The Software more than 3 times, you are required to purchase a registered copy.
